Jesus the factual teacher

Jesus the factual teacher

The factual side of Jesus’s teachings are often underplayed.

For example when he said, “where your treasure is there your heart will be also”, he was referring to a common practice of the day.

There were no banks, so rich people buried spare money and valuables.  They would constantly worry about them being discovered and dug up because they knew people would be on the look-out!

Jesus said you would be better off without that worry.

Also treating others as we want to be treated was stated by Jesus to be the entire meaning of about 70% of the Bible.  That is great news for those of us not good at reading!  If everyone followed that “Golden Rule” most problems of the world would be solved.

Autistic people often get into trouble by stating the obvious.

Jesus was murdered for stating the obvious.  Especially regarding the religious leaders of the day being little to do with God and everything about improving their own position, including by imposing temple taxes and exerting power and control over others.

So when he said that those they labelled “sinners” and “unclean” were closer to God than them it was only going one way.

Ever got into trouble for stating the obvious? – if so, well done, do it more.  It’s what the world needs.
